Naruto and the rest of Team 7 are introduced to a lot of their fellow shinobi when they register to take part in the Chūnin Exams. Gaara and his siblings are introduced right before the exams began, and he immediately made an impression.

In the light novel called Gaara Hiden: A Sandstorm Mirage, the council tries to arrange a marriage between Gaara and a young woman. By this time, Gaara has abandoned his former ideology and become the leader of his village. The woman is revealed to be in love with someone else, and Gaara helps her elope with the man she actually loves.
Gaara never marries but does adopt a son, Shinki. While it is impressive to see how far Gaara has come, his actions could result in a political crisis in his village. The Kazekage title has been passed down a specific bloodline. Since neither Gaara nor his brother has biological children, this could cause a problem when it becomes time to pass the title down. During the Chūnin Exams, Gaara goes after a weakened Sasuke. Gaara fully plans to kill Sasuke, but Sakura intervenes. For some reason, Gaara decides not to kill Sakura. Instead, Gaara leaves Sakura tied to a tree.

Team 8, which consisted of Kiba, Shino, and Hinata had spotted Gaara. The trio watched as he killed mercilessly. They didn”t go unnoticed. Having noticed the three, Gaara decided to turn his attention to them.

5 He Tries to Kill Rock Lee.
Rock Lee has to go to the hospital to recover from his last encounter with Gaara. Gaara decides to go and pay Rock Lee a visit, which will give Gaara a chance to finish the job. Gaara runs into Shikamaru and Naruto.
Gaara threatens to kill all of them, explaining his past and life views. Naruto begins to worry that he can”t beat Gaara in a fight. Luckily, Guy shows up and prevents Gaara from harming any of the young Konoha genin.
Gaara has trouble getting a regular amount of sleep. Any time he falls asleep, the tailed-beast inside him threatens to take over his body. Gaara ends up becoming an insomniac. For Gaara, falling asleep can be dangerous for himself and those around him.
When Gaara and Naruto finally end up fighting, Gaara had already begun to transform into his tailed-beast. Gaara allows himself to fall asleep, giving Shukaku complete control over his body. Shukaku would have been willing to kill everyone and destroy the village entire leaf village while he was controlling Gaara”s body.
3 His Family Was Afraid Of Him.
Gaara”s mother died in childbirth, but the rest of his family was terrified of him. Gaara”s father tried multiple times to have him killed. Gaara”s siblings were obviously terrified of him. The first time Gaara is shown, he threatens to kill his older brother.

Kankuro and Temari”s fear of Gaara must have been a learned behavior. There must have been a lot of times over the years that Gaara threatened, tormented, and bullied his older siblings. Gaara didn”t believe in love, so he must not have cared about his siblings at all.
When Gaara is about to fight against Sasuke in the Chūnin Exams, he runs into a couple of Chūnin from another village. The two Chūnin, Midori and Shiba, are running a betting ring based around the tournament.
Midori and Shiba approach Gaara, hoping to convince him to throw the fight with Sasuke for monetary reasons. Clearly, the two had no idea who they were dealing with. Gaara kills them both, momentarily sating the monster inside him. After killing the two, Gaara goes to fight Sasuke.

During the second portion of the Chūnin Exams, teams are forced to battle each other over the use of scrolls. Each team is required to have two different scrolls. Gaara decides to attack the very first team they come across, not checking to see if this other team has the right scroll first.
