These a decent sounding speakers. They are very rich in the midrange area and nice for treble. Comparing to more modern high end speakers I would say these have that classic 70's sound where they do not do too much of anything. Not to bright, not to much bass. They are tight and thick sounding. Not very airy or wide in the sound stage. Not bad either. Great for average listeners that just want to crank music and have it sound good.

I've owned two pairs of these speakers, CS 99a's (could've probably used a crossover recap) and Cs 63dx's. IMHO… They sound better than the CS 99a's and come pretty close to the 63 DX's. They sound great with just about any set up. but right now I have a set matched to a Sansui 5000a. Just about mind-blowing sound.

I have a pair of these and besides having to re foam the mid range. They have to me very good acoustics. I paid 10 dollars for them and I really enjoy them. Someone beat me to some CS-99A”s that I had my eye on but of well. You snooze. you loose. At any rate. I think these are really good sounding speakers,

I have four of these and I’ve had them for years. I don’t understand why so many people Look down their nose at these speakers. I think overall they are very crisp yet warm sounding speaker and accurately reproduce depending on what you hook them up to. They don’t compare to my L166’s or my SP-300’s but they are also a lot easier to come by and way more affordable for most people. I have always had a bit of a love affair with all things oiled and walnut. I would give them 3 out of 5 stars for sound and finish.
