IntroductionBuilding on the success of past competitions, the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Malta Chapter has taken it upon itself to organise mister-map.com 2014.From this year, mister-map.com will be introducing award categories and participation will be open to individuals, groups and organisations, both professional and semi-professional/independent. Through this, mister-map.com hopes to encourage and promote the development of quality digital games in Malta whilst highlighting the versatility and potential of Malta”s creative games industry.

CategoriesThe idea is to create a small range of categories allowing teams to compete, without discouraging anyone or barring teams from participating. Projects may only compete in ONE category of the developers choice.Best Educational Game – Any type of game created in Malta with the intent to transfer knowledge, experiment in design or mechanics.Best Popular Game – A Maltese game which is well received and covered in the media by several publications or reviews, both locally and abroad.Best Independent Game – Games developed and produced by small teams of Maltese developers, individual coders and artists, or students.

Registration
Registration opens on 1st August and remains open until 24th AugustParticipants may enter more than one game in the competition. For each entry, participants areto download and fill in the registration form found at hereProjects may compete in only ONE out of the following three categories: Best Educational Game – Any type of game created in Malta with the intent to transfer knowledge, experiment in design or mechanics.Best Popular Game – A Maltese game which is well received and covered in the media by several publications or reviews, both locally and abroad.Best Independent Game – Games developed and produced by small teams of Maltese developers, individual coders and artists, or students.

Submission
Game submissions, accompanied by a short video trailer, should be made available online for download. Download instructions should then be sent via e-mail to info
mister-map.com by not later than Sunday 24th August 2014.The jury will be comprised of a number of media and game related experts who will be named in the coming weeks. These will be evaluating submissions against the category criteria. Application of these criteria as to matters of subjectivity shall be at the sole discretion of the judges, whose decisions are final and non-negotiable.

Award ceremony The Award Ceremony will be organised at the Xara Lodge in Rabat on the 11th September at 1900. The winning submission in each category will receive the mister-map.com 2014 Trophy. Other submissions deserving special mention may also be awarded a prize at the mister-map.com committee”s discretion.
